In Derby City we have been affiliated to Children's University since 2001.

Workforce Reform the agenda for Extended Services, `Every Child Matters' impact directly on every school. This is an opportune time to develop a more structured approach to all of our `Out of Lesson Time Learning' programmes.

Derby Children's University can respond by working closely with parents, schools and their communities to extend children's learning.

Many schools already offer a quality programme of `Out of Lesson Time' activities.

Derby Children's University aims to complement and enhance this programme. Schools and other learning providers will have the opportunity to develop both their current and proposed `Out of Lesson Time' activities as Children's University Modules.

Modules will be submitted to a panel in order to `undergo a verification process ultimately to ensuring our overall philosophy will always be met and quality standards maintained.

All verified modules will become the shared resources of Derby Children's University and be available for any approved centre to deliver.
